Why This Site Exists
Utah requires 25/65/15 liability coverage and $3,000 in personal injury protection. Those numbers matter when you register a vehicle, renify a license, or get pulled over. But state statute doesn't tell you which carriers file electronically with the DMV, how quickly you can bind coverage, or what full coverage actually costs in Salt Lake County versus Washington County. We built this site to answer those questions clearly.
When you submit your information, licensed insurance agents in your area receive your request and compete for your business. You compare their quotes and choose the policy that fits. This service is free to you—we're compensated by the agents, not by consumers. No hidden fees, no markup on premiums.
Our job is to explain what Utah law requires, what optional coverages add, and how the filing process works. Your job is to pick the agent and policy that make sense for your situation.
How the Process Works
You enter your ZIP code, vehicle details, and coverage needs. Your information routes to licensed agents who write policies in your area. Those agents review your request and send quotes—usually within minutes to a few hours, depending on how many details you provide up front.
You receive quotes by email or phone, depending on your preference. Each quote shows the premium, the coverage limits, and the carrier. You compare them side by side. If you have questions about a specific policy or need to adjust coverage levels, you work directly with the agent who sent that quote.
Once you choose a policy and bind coverage, the agent files proof of insurance with the Utah DMV electronically. You receive your insurance card immediately—digital copy by email, physical card by mail within 7-10 business days. If you need SR-22 filing, the same process applies: the agent files the SR-22 form with the state on your behalf, and you receive confirmation once the filing is complete.
How We Maintain Accuracy
Every state-specific requirement on this site—liability minimums, PIP thresholds, SR-22 duration, reinstatement fees—comes from Utah Code Title 31A (Insurance Code) and Utah Administrative Code R590 (Insurance Department rules). When those statutes change, we update the affected pages within 30 days of the effective date.
Rate estimates reflect aggregated data from carrier filings with the Utah Insurance Department and industry rate surveys. We do not publish a specific premium as fact. Every estimate appears as a range with a disclaimer that individual rates vary by driving history, vehicle, and location.
We do not rank carriers, endorse specific agents, or guarantee savings. Our content explains what coverage does, what the state requires, and what optional coverages add. The agents in our network are independently licensed and set their own pricing. We don't control their quotes or their underwriting decisions.
